School and play

Education isn't play--and it can't be made to look like play. It is hard, hard work. But it can be made interesting work.

This is a quote by Edison that I found below his pic outside a school near my house. (this school does not have a playground, but claims to be the only International school in the centre of Hyderabad)

Must applaud them for being so truthful in their marketing.

Probably they are targeting the parents.

Sree International School daane....our house is surrounded by so many schools like this...the one school in our area which has a huge play ground...Keshav Memorial School has few takers! International schools without playgrounds are the order of the day!

w/o playground? :o... too bad!

btw, is it a new fad to append "International School" to your school name?

All these "international schools" like Oakridge , Sreenidhi or whatever are smaller than our hostels da. Horrible. Ippo edo Narayana Concept School irukku. Near your house only I guess. Pathetic!! Pity the kids

school sans play ground? thats shady!

They should atleast have a small play pen. completely no play ground sounds very wierd and absolutely useless in the long run.

PS high school had a massive ground.
They built another school in one little corner and called it PS Senior. It also had a ground, what a joke it was!
Dang we should go back to good ol' marathu adi patshaala days da

Dei.. I can't help it, if they converted it into cycle stand during your time - I've played Kho-Kho, Volley Ball etc. and done march past and conducted scouts camps INSIDE the school grounds! What else do u need a ground for?

@naren and Gads
Are you both talking abt different schools? :P

I have been to Narayana Mission many times...never seen a ground...I would agreed with the 5 foot long pathway though...saw the shcool last month also when I went to cancel a few tickets!

@Valli Doll
5 foot pathway? It is around 20 feet wide :p
That's more than enough for Kho-Kho, Volley Ball etc. as I said earlier!

Sreenidhi has already shifted to a bigger campus on Chilkur Balaji Road.. the building in Jubilee Hills is only for the primary section upto Standard I. :)

There are two swimming pools, a really huge cricket ground and one basketball court as well. Plus a lot of extra space for children to romp about. Cannot talk much about otehr schools. :)

And it does have a unique approach to teaching, atleast is not afraid of trying out new things, unlike so many other stuck in the rut. Trust me, I know. :)

The ground and the indoor stadium @ Narayana Mission suffice. That should do for a normal school. Teams that require coaching and infrastructure can be taken to 'proper' grounds by menas of school-ground tie-ups.

btw, that is a nice quote by Edison.
