No coach, no captain also

While it is sort of obvious that its not the fast bowlers, but the slow bowlers who will be more effective in 20-20, we decide to go in with 4 fast bowlers. And not one of them dibbly-dobbly, just clean hittable.

This is because there is a new captain and no coach. All the seniors have been accomodated in the team while the new buggers are made to sit out. Yusuf Pathan, Joginder Singh, Piyush Chawla and Rohit Sharma are the guys sitting out.

Just like how if you are a kid trying to join a game of cricket played by junta older than you, you will invariably just end up fielding and without batting or bowling.

Totally shocking that Dravid resigned. Yes, his batting wasn't as good as before, but he is just back from a successful overseas trip and have Pakistan and Australia in Australia to follow. Slisha bad timing only, especially with no obvious successor around. Given the current state of our team, I think Dada for the tests and Dhoni for the ODIs (keeping 2011 in mind), would be the best possible option. The only other option is Sachin, who has proved not too good at captaining in both his stints.

Copied my gtalk status message :P

Woresht timing. He could have waited for some more time. Yuvi could also be considered for ODIs taking the experience into consideration

real funny, but yeah looks like it was the case.

what is it with indian captains anways, whoever assumes the skipper spot ends up with a drop in battin avgs.
on the other hand look at ponting, he cant ever thank the selectors more for making him the captain, changed his script permanently, cant believe his dream-run still continues

I disagree with thr opinion that the timing of his resignation was wrong. It was clear that the captaincy was affecting his batting and overall demeanour on the field. He has been a great batsman for India, and a decent captain but there is no doubt I would prefer to have Dravid the batsman over Dravid the captain. There must come a time when someone perhaps other than the 'Big 3' must stand up and shoulder some responsibility if India are to really progress

Let's look at the positive side. This might be also be a chance for Dhoni to really shine.

People complained when Srinath retired in 2003 that he should have continued atleast for the Australia tour. But this gave Pathan to break through into the side and do well (I particularly remember the sensational yorker to Gilchrist). Let's hope Dhoni also rises to the occasion.
