VIPs and their peak hour madness

Today morning, as I was coming to office, there were barricades at the place where my lane meets the Airport Road. Reason, some useless and obviously at a very high position VIP and his cavalcade were supposed to pass that way. Being 9:45 in the morning, soon a big queue of vehicles ended up being formed.

This was some 20 minutes before the VIP finally came to pass. The procession passed only at 10:10 finally. Total waste of time. Obviously reasoning with the policemen did not work. Why the hell can't these jobless buggers travel earlier itself? I seriously think there should be a rule that, as far as possible, VIPs should not travel in a city between 9 and 6.

The policemen also tried to make an attempt to push everyone off the roads on this side, while traffic was peacefully moving in the opposite direction. Made the entire security situation seem totally stupid. If someone wanted to attack the VIP, he could easily do it from the other side.

Not too far away from the Vivek joke where the policemen stop traffic as the VIP's flight is flying overhead. There was even a guy selling tea there. Also surprising (but pretty much expected only here) to find so many traffic policemen on the road too.

Naren,

Does VIP darshan matter at all, unless you meet him for a purpose. It is a childish notion to meet VIPs :P

Traffic has been sucking big time in Hyd, thanks to the bomb scare. There was a rumour yesterday that a bomb was defused at the High Court here, when there was only some polythene bag, along with wires! The news broke out, that a time bomb was defused!! It came on many news channels too!

Some 5-6 years back we were heading for SriRangam. And there was a long line up of vehicles on the road. We waited for some 3-4 hrs after which JJ's( then the CM)vehicle passed . Finally that after a delay of more than 4 hours we reached our destination.
